Recording notes from 11/30/23. Changed some permissions in bit bucket to allow one of the developers access to merge into the master code branch. Then switched over to working on the bulk clear customer loyalty points project. Finished things up and spent a lot of time working on the rollout or backout logic. Lots of testing and pushed up files live to test there as well. Looks good. It still needs some help files and a final clean-up but pretty close.

Weekly meeting with Cory. We were talking about servers, uptime, downtime, and what went on over the weekend. We had a number of servers down over the weekend due to a system maintenance issue and system migration slowdown from the main data farm (commercial hosting company). We couldn't control it. They were planning a 5 hours outage and it almost tripled. The good things were that not all servers were affected. However, we had a few servers that were down for around 17 hours. We couldn't do anything; it was all on the server side of the equation.

Next, we talked about real costs to get a new company up and fully running on our system. It takes time, money, and dedicated time to really get someone in deep enough to help them stick (stay on the system). Those clients need the support and help to really help that transition happen. At some point, they, our clients, need to see value and/or commit from their side of the fence.

We have done this in a number of ways. We used to use independent consultants. That works pretty good until that main rep or consultant either gets too busy or goes somewhere else (takes a different job). We have also done it internally (our own reps and consultants) and that has been somewhat effective. We can get into trouble if the client needs help and we don't have enough people or resources to really help them out, at the drop of a hat. The other thing that we have seen is our people are ready and the client is either too busy or won't make the time to really get the proper training. It can drag on for months and months. There are some challenges there.

I showed Cory the bulk clear customer loyalty points feature and we did some light playing and testing. Planning the next steps and next projects including yearend stuff and discount engines.

Phone calls with both Bryan and Will on database queries and pull requests. Merged in some code for Will and pushed it up to all servers.

Spent some time working with Bryan on his API socket projects. We ended up doing some custom date/time validation stuff. Then we were working on some huge queries and trying to make things as smooth as simple as possible. Sometimes these guys copy and paste from other projects and we end up with tons of extra stuff that we don't need, but that's how it gets built - copy and paste vs totally from scratch.

Recording notes from 12/3/23. Working with Eric on his tip integration project. We were testing locally and talking about options. We are trying to roll this project out in stages. We also talked about opening things up to allow for normal tips, checking for double tips (cash tips vs EMV chip reader tips), etc. We got into carts, restoring quotes, duplicating invoices, printable invoices, statements, and accounts receivable stuff. We also checked some ecommerce stuff. Making progress and found a few things that Eric will fix and we'll retest in a couple of days.

Reviewing code for a 3rd party API socket with Bryan. Small name change to the main function and API socket name. We added some new links to the API videos and help file. Got deeper into some code review on the actual API socket. Pushed up the code to test on data 0. Small micro changes as needed.

Code review for Will. He is working on the iText and QR codes. He sent me a couple of pull requests to check out. Pulled his branch, looked around, took down some notes, and sent him some feedback.

Went into town to participate in the Bridgerland advisory committee meeting for web and software development. They fed us lunch and we took a survey and then talked about where they are heading with their classes. I tried to participate and help where possible. Good meeting.

Going over an API socket build out and request that Bryan is working on for a client. This one was special. It was a vendor requesting information about another vendor's saved settings. I don't know much about it but it sounds like we are sub-contracting out one vendor to provide another vendor with the data and information that they need. Kinda the Texas two-step. Anyways, Bryan and I were talking about what is needed and requested. The good thing is the data requested is not a security issue. It's pretty simple data. Bryan is going to ask Steve and Cory for more information and insight into this small request. Anyways, going over ideas and options.

Paying bills, emails, and recording notes from the past few days (12/6 to 12/7).

Various tasks. Looking into Will's pull request for the balance sheet. Made a few small changes and pushed up a small update. Texted Will with some feedback. Bryan wanted me to check on a timeout issue on data 39. Ended up sending Wayne an email with instructions and specifics on the data sync (table copy) stuff.

Spent a little bit of time adding in popup modals for the bulk clear customer loyalty points project. Added a new help file and cascaded it around to all servers. Light clean-up.

Quick meeting with Shari O. and Cory. Going over priorities and a light overview of where we are heading in the next couple of weeks. We looked at schedules. Checking emails.

Code review for Will on the history homepage. Sent him some feedback on some observations and choices and small change requests. It's looking pretty good. Phone call with Eric to go over tips and how to show those on statements (summary of invoices, amounts due, and payments made). We talked through a small plan. We'll make a few changes and go from there.

Doing some bug fixing with Bryan. Working and looking over some joins and filters (SQL - database stuff). Pushed up some files and did some live testing.

Great work session with Shannon. We were reviewing some entries (still really rough) in the SWOT analysis. We are working on the weakness portion of the analysis. We had some really good talks about expectations (from a developer's point of view vs a customer's point of view). See attached for our progress.

Phone call with Will to go over some new pages. We talked about settings, black box code, and best practices. His new files will end up being out in ecommerce land. Later on, I was doing some code review for Will and he asked me to jump on a Zoom meeting. We jumped on and went over some stuff on his new pages that he is working on.

Emails, code review, merged and pushed up some code for Bryan. Started looking into some code changes that Chuck had made. Asked him to make a small change and then I'll recheck it again. Recording notes from 12/11 - 12/12.

Getting back into the yearend payroll project. Reviewing some older documents from John Maestas who did some of the yearend stuff last year. Ended up grabbing new 2023 forms and then rebuilding them to what we need. Worked through the W-2 and started on the 1099-Misc. Work session.

Uploading payroll documents from John Maestas. These were some documents and notes that he had taken about the annual payroll updates and maintenance that we need to do inside of adilas for the next or new year. He took over this project the last few years. Worked on prepping the W-2's for the 2023 tax year.

Found an error on the calculate payroll page. Spent a little bit of time going over the JavaScript functions and fixing some of the local math helpers. As a funny or not so funny side note, there was a bug that has been in there for a couple of months. No one reported it, but one of the local math functions was not working.

Code review for Will on a change to the ecommerce header.

Nice little work session with Shannon. We were going over and talking about frustrations and pain points. We also talked about what a dis-service it is if you remove all of the hard, negative, or painful things. That, removing those pieces, can actually cause problems because it doesn't give a perfectly clear picture of what is really going on. See attached, working on the SWOT analysis in the end of the weakness section.

Jumped on a meeting with Cory and Shari O. Going over yearend payroll stuff and tax forms. We then got into a discussion on average costing and a thing called internal cost corrections (ICC). We have some of our older clients that came on (started using our systems) before we had sub inventory. Some of them are wanting us to add in either average costing options or be able to virtually update the COGS to match-up what has come in/out of the system on a per item basis. The best solution would be to get them to buy into and/or use sub inventory or parent/child inventory. Anyways, we were talking about some options.

Small work session with Eric. We were looking at his new code for the tips and collecting and showing tip information. We were pulling down code, running local tests, making small changes, and then retesting. Most of our work today was dealing with changes made to statements and accounts receivable logic. We will meet up later today to do some more work on this project after Eric makes a few more changes.

Code review session with Bryan. Going over code with the sub super invoice line items report. Bryan took an old report and was adding in some auto CSV code creation logic. Merged in some code, pushed up changes, and did some testing. We had to make a small tweak, but pretty darn close. Good stuff.

Quick touch base with Eric. We setup a time to re-meet on Wednesday. Small code review session.

A number of different and random things. Emails, recording notes, code review for Will, providing feedback and suggestions, custom email addresses requested by both Shari O. and Cory for clients and new adilas internal users. Quick meeting with Bryan. Merged in some code and pushed things up for testing. Updating the 517 Blake Street address with the new PO Box 852. Changed out personal phone numbers for Steve and I with the main adilas tech support number 720.740.3076. Changed tons of files. Merged in new changes. They should auto rollout tomorrow morning with the other new code from today.

Sent out some email updates to both Shari O. and Cory with some changes that they had requested. I then got back on the yearend payroll updates and changes. Working on some JavaScript changes to help with some settings that were added (form fields that will either be on the page or hidden - not there). Making sure that the functions work with all scenarios.

Work session with Eric. We ran some new database updates on all servers. We then jumped into a small code review session. We also talked about being able to add tips to multi-payments (one payment for multiple invoices) and payments that are made after the fact.

Great work session with Shannon. We are working on the opportunities section of the SWOT analysis. There is so much potential in what we are trying to do. We just need to get there. We spent a lot of time talking about goals and where we are headed. See attached for our progress.

Reviewing code with Eric on his tip collection branch. Making plans. We rolled out a small invoice homepage fix.

Recording notes and then jumping back on the yearend payroll updates. Met with Bryan to look at some code. Pushed up a new API socket to help with pulling customer info based on a last date modified. Then back on to the payroll updates. Pushed up the 2023 W-2's and sent a message to Shari O. and Cory.

Work session with Shannon. Going over ideas on pricings, marketing, and perceptions (high and low) for our products. See attached for where we are working. Just trying to get some scratch ideas down on paper. Working on the opportunities section of the SWOT analysis document.

Emails and then jumping back on the yearend payroll updates. Working on 1099's. We have to do three different versions of the 1099 form. We have to do 1099-Misc (miscellaneous), 1099-NEC (non-employee compensation), and 1099-Int (interest).

Got a quick phone call from Bryan asking for direction on the next steps and next projects. Pointed him to elements of time and new settings that we wanted to work on - See element of time # 8004 in the shop. Also, we have a need to help write some code to help with syncing up certain tables between servers. We could automate a lot of that stuff. Currently, if we sync up database tables, we have to log into 20 different serves and pull down master files or database records. We could really speed that up by doing a push on asynchronous type actions and even automating the submission or pushing from the main server out to other satellite servers. We could also gain a lot by adding in a last modified date on the different tables. That could limit the size of our data requests and make things faster.

Phone call with Eric to go over credit card checkout processes and need for some new settings with multiple devices and multiple locations. We talked through a number of scenarios and Eric is going to formulate a plan and pitch it back to us. It sounded good, what I heard. We'll go from there.

Random start to the morning. I was planning on doing some yearend payroll updates. I ended up doing about 2.5 hours of phone calls instead. Emails and then a quick phone call with Calvin Chipman. He was trying to help a client with some changes to an inventory API socket for custom labels.

I then got a phone call from Steve. We were chatting for over an hour. Good update on where things are at, current projects, upcoming projects, sales, networking connections, update on ship A and ship B (current adilas vs fracture or adilas lite). I told Steve that we have gathered tons of information and notes. We are now formatting things and trying to make that information get into a presentable version and format. We have tons and tons of the main things researched and prepped. Anyways, that will continue to unfold as we roll into 2024. Great phone call. We also talked about developers and clients.

After talking on the phone with Steve, I got on a call with Bryan. He had some questions on where we are going with certain projects and looking for direction. Jumped back on a call with Calvin and we did some testing and debugging on the API socket calls. We ended up on the phone for over 45 minutes. Testing and looking at things on data 4 for the client. Emails back and forth with info.

Jumped back into the yearend payroll updates and working on the 1099 forms. Working on the new 2023 1099-NEC form for non-employee compensation.

Working on the new 1099 forms for yearend payroll stuff for 2023. Finished up the 1099-INT (interest) form. Also worked on some new instructions and going through the prep page for populating the 1099 forms. There are three 1099 forms that we do each year. They are 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, and 1099-INT. Pushed up progress to my local coding branch.

Working on yearend payroll updates and changes. Spent time working on the prep page for 1099 forms. Ended up doing some major clean-up and removed over 2,000+ lines of older code for tax years 2012-2021. Added new code for the 1099-MISC for 2023. We still have to add a few other forms. They are prepped but still need to be added and tested. I'll work on that on Monday. Pushed up what I had that was done. Making progress.

Also went to the IRS website and saw that they have released the new tables and formulas for tax year 2024. We never know when they will get those new documents and numbers pushed out to the public. One of the variables that we deal with.
