AU 2155 To-do's & Standardizing decimal output 3/2/2010   Scratch Paper:
Corp table settings:
(See scan in photo gallery)

Known things that need to be done as of 3/2/10:
- Balance sheet taxes and fee’s – automate sales tax and fees
- Help files
- Launch unit of measurement changes
o Remote side
o Corp-wide settings
o Bin #’s
o Line #’s
o Sorts
- Remote clean-up for css and corp-wide settings
o Dewy
o Show/hide parts
o Unit of measurements
- Customer time/clock
- Main site – finish up all corp-wide settings
- Update css for main site
- Bad debt on Income Statement
- Pre-payments on Invoices and Expense/Receipts, check all possible options
- New sort for units of measurements – scan in photo gallery
Ideas for standardizing decimal output:
- Problem…
- If a part uses a mark-up, it also uses a corp-wide setting to determine the output values. Valid output values are .00 (20), .000 (3), .0000 (4), or .00000 (5)
- A fixed price is run through the adilas dewy decimal function that dynamically picks which decimal output to use
- There could be a disconnect between the corp-wide setting and number of needed decimal points.
o Could be too high
o Could be too low
o Could be just right
- You could run all of the sale prices through the group or mask function.

AU 2156 Brainstorming Profit & Discount Calculator 3/6/2010   ((Price – cost)/Price) = Profit Margin
Formulas:
- Fixed price: Basic number used as is
- Mark-up: a decimal based on 100% plus itself
- Mark-up: Cost times a mark-up. The mark-up need to be: (cost x (one + the mark-up)) or ((cost * mark-up) + cost)
- Profit: price – cost
- Profit% or profit margin: (((price-cost)/price)x100)
- Calculated mark-up = price divided by cost and then rounded
URL’s
- Cost
- Discount
- Mark-up
- Mode = basic
- Price Type
- Profit Margin
- Quantity
- Sale price
Profit/Discount Calculator: Known issue between fixed prices, mark-ups, & margins
- It would be really cool to help users learn the difference between the different pricing structures
- Show formulas and help them and education them at the same time
- Need cost on everything

Challenges:
- Bad debt
- Vendor Fee (money coming back)
- Paid/Non-paid
- Location – out of taxing district
- Time range – monthly, quarterly
- Permissions – who changes what, when and lockdown
- Change accounts, license plate, customers, etc. (when to pay)
- When to lock invoices and sales tax work
- Voids/credits
- Partial payments
- Only pay for non-receivables
- Automation of all these variables (just address one at a time)
- Lots of moving parts – all tied to the balance sheet
Now:
- Sales tax details
- Sales tax on units is different than parts
- Not automated
Goal:
- Automation – B.S.

• Worked on formulas and helper verbage for the profit calculator.
• On the phone with Steve going over the new profit and discount calculator. We talked about adding both calculators to the main adilas.biz website. Steve also wants a mini standalone version of the P&L and balance sheet. Similar to the other calculators, it wouldn’t be tied to anything but it would allow for training and mini sessions on where things go.
• Spent some time writing the idea down and light brainstorming.
• Started to add dynamic links to the profit and discount calculator page.

AU 115 Daily Ideas 3/20/2010   -Steve and I were talking on the phone. He would like a mini page that allows people to make mini P&L entries (fake or just for fun) and mini balance sheet entries. This is like a little calculator page and doesn’t really tie to anything. It basically makes it a standalone mini app with some automated Java Script calcs. Along with this idea, Steve would like a couple of levels of complexity. Super simple/beginner (revenue, COGS, expenses and assets, liabilities, equity), Intermediate or medium (small sub categories within the main items) and full, large or advanced. This would allow for tons of detail and could handle complex items and values. (Notebook images)

AU 2159 Re-work on Special Line Items 3/23/2010   Re-work on special line items:
1. Special line items are very flexible, get added to every corp by default, have special include/don’t include code already built-in. May need to be handled differently for each corp.
2. Special line items are not included in most payroll reports. However, there is a need for flexible payroll settings. Some examples might be: Other, Shop Supplies, Supplies, Rentals, Fees, etc.
3. Each line item might need special tax category settings.
4. Where do they go? I.S. or B.S.? What are the defaults?
5. Thinking about these possible options for the special line items:
a. Part
i. Collected
ii. Fee
iii. Labor
iv. Shop supplies
v. Freight
vi. Shipping
vii. Discount
viii. Rental
ix. Other
x. Warranty – F & I
xi. Unit
xii. Trade – In
xiii. Dealer Handling Fee
xiv. Lien Payoff
xv. Sublet
xvi. Verbage/Info
b. Show/Hide – show part
c. Tax Setting – tax category id
i. Misc.
ii. Labor
iii. Taxable
iv. Freight
v. Sublet
vi. Etc.
d. Payroll Settings – Payroll type id
i. N/a
ii. Labor
iii. Parts/general
iv. Special categories
v. Other
vi. Etc.
e. Handling – Part handling id
i. Special
ii. Rev
iii. Unassigned
iv. Special
v. Etc.
-Need a new table for the handling or just use the old chart of account types table – for part handling id – This number is tied to the chart of account type
1=Dummy…. Unassigned (black hole)
14=Income… Revenue
15=Cost of Sales… COGS (inverted to)
18=BSI… handling internal

AU 85 Daily Ideas 3/27/2010   These are some ideas on energy and how to harness different forms of energy... not really related to adilas but some fun brainstorming...

From Post-it notes (all stacked together – a 5/27/11, 3/2/10 and 2/22/10):
5/27/11
-What about independent mini systems. Say 1-10 mini systems per wheel that can be used in combination. The combination could be one tire or wheel at a time or all tires at once or 1-10 per wheel. If the accelerator is pushed, it (the system) would add more torque or power to the wheel.
-What if all 10 mini systems per wheel could help one another. What if they could piggy back or share power to get an end result.
-The less converting… the better. Use raw energy or natural outputs. This may help with efficiency and power.
3/2/10
-Voice and sound wave capture, plastics and rubber compounds instead of springs and metal, transfer of human energy to electric or potential energy, on demand energy – like an on demand water heater, wedges, levers, air compressors, vibration, expansion and contraction, flex (tighten) and extend (release), gyro, independent systems, bite, grid, slice, inject, sugars, carbs, fats, absorption, waste and release options, hydraulics, tractor beam, push/pull frequency (magnetic frequency), UPS (uninterrupted power supply), make before break or break before make. Run power through the battery – that exercises the battery and it is the cleanest route.
-Random note: check children’s books on energy and how things work. Great conceptualizing source, toys.
-What if you had a substance that reacted to any light (man-made or natural) and it worked like a solar calculator. Small cell, able to feed any light source….
-Different color lasers (red, green, etc.).
2/22/10
-Sugars, honey, suction, fats, vacuum, waves, electro-magnetic, electro-gravity, atomic, mirrors, amplifiers, CO2 or compressed air, jumpstart, plug in, gravity, satellite feed, H2O (rain & snow), static, intake and output pass through, gears like a clock motor, flywheel motors, sunlight, air modules, salt, solar, magnifying glass, fuel cells, batteries, electricity, wind, steam, wood, fire, pressure, belts, chains, light, darkness, laser, hydro, chambering or channeling, chemical, bio, exposing to oxygen, radiation, use wind to power movement just like sailing, friction, gear ratios, flint and steel, wind-up, torque, springs, hover or somehow break gravity – this will lower wheel or ground friction, recoil, centrifugal force, magnets and magnetic force, flubber, inertia, keep something going in a vacuum or specific environment. Change states of matter, hot, cold, mix, extract, add, subtract, multiply, divide, inject, extract, stack, join, squeeze.

AU 80 Daily Tasks 3/29/2010   • Research on Flash and barcodes and pdf and barcodes.
• Research on adilas.com. They have registered their domain name for a number or years and just barely (last week) got a trademark on the name “Adilas.” Their trademark is in real estate, property, property management and insurance. I will be contacting them via phone and email this week. Just for the record, Steve and I were working on the name “adilas” as of 10/07 to 11/07 (see notebook during that time – both this one and working notebook (green)).
• Called and told Steve about the trademark. He was under the impression that a trademark is only good for a certain trade or industry. We also talked about a number of other options and normal business stuff.
