Customer/Contact Search Results
This is the results page of a customer search. The word customer is a corp-wide setting and may be changed to fit your business needs. This page has a number of features. There is an add new button at the top of the page that allows you to enter a new customer/contact. Please check the list below the button to make sure that that customer is not already in the system. There is also a link at the top of the page to clear the search form and do a completely new search.

If your search returns 1 or more customer/contacts they will be listed below in the results. Each customer will show basic information with a number of links off to the right hand side. Each link should be fairly self explanatory with words like: log (user-maintained customer up-log - this is the main customer page), pmts (apply payments to outstanding invoices), pmt hist (recent payments that have been made), edit, history, queue (assign to the customer queue or waiting room), assign to cart, assign to time, return to invoice, and assign to unit. A few of the latter options are dynamic and may only show-up during certain times or certain page modes.

The customer log (virtual up-log) link will take you to a special view page that will show you the user-maintained log entries for the customer. This is also the primary detail viewing page for customer info.

The edit link will show all customer info, settings, and options for the customer. The admin customer permission is required to change the credit settings and credit terms.

The history link will show basic customer history (system maintained) and all sales invoices and changes that have been made to a specific customer. Each sub page has its own help file with additional information.

If an expiration date (verbage or title name is dynamic) is used for the customers, it is possible for the date to be shown in red. If this is true, that means that the expiration date is in the past or has been exceeded. This is not required but mentioned here to help you know what the values in red mean.

If you happen to have the permission called "Limited Customer Search" (id=133) turned on, the search results will only show you customers that are either unassigned or assigned to you as the main or other salesperson. Both the word customers and salesperson are corp-wide settings. This means that it could be changed as needed. For example: students to teachers, clients to reps, patients to care givers, etc.

The reason for this note is to let you know that if you have the limited customer search, the search results will have an automatic filter built-in to limit which ones you (according to assignments) are able to see. If you know that a customer is in the system but you can't find them, it is possible that you are not assigned to that customer. Not all companies or corporations use this kind of a model. Many corporations have a single customer database and allow all customers to be searched and interacted with. Other companies want to maintain a more rigid customer to salesperson (user) relationship.
