Parts Inventory Categories
This is a special parts inventory search page that is capable of looking back in time to determine part quantities at any given time. The page results will show up below the main search form. Use the drill-down links to view the actual parts and quantities according to the date used. The detail page (drill-down link) will show quantities, cost, average cost over time, and additional drill-down links per part.

Special Note: If your overall costs for parts are off, check for super high quantities and large extended values. This may give you a clue to check into further details. This report is one of the best overall views of the parts department on a single page.

Possible Caution: There is a setting called the part status (the word parts or part number is a corp-wide setting that may be altered by you). This status setting will add a filter to the query so that the results will only show active part numbers. The caution comes in the fact that if you turn a part number to inactive (make it hidden or don't use it), there is no validation to make sure that the part number has a zero inventory level. What this means is even though a part is inactive (somewhat hidden from view), it still may have an active quantity or a value. These values, need to be reflected on the balance sheet even if the part number is set to inactive.

In order to clear these inactive items off the books, you may need to activate the items, do an inventory update, and then make them inactive again. This will help bring the quantity to a zero inventory level. Once the inventory values are updated, you would then need to write off those values to cost of goods or some other expense type.
