Add Item To Cart
This is a simple search page for adding items to your shopping cart. This page contains multiple different forms to help you get what you want. They are:

Basic Parts Search - This is the form at the top right or center of the page. The words "parts" or "part" are corp-wide settings and may be changed to meet your needs (products, items, sku's, widgets, etc.). Once this form is submitted, it will take you to the parts homepage and show your search results there. Use the key word "all" to get all parts for a specific vendor or for a specific category. The match part field helps the search be tighter or looser. The three main search options are: exact, like, or starts with. If you have the recipe/build permissions, there will also be a match option for recipes. See this help file for more info on recipe/builds. The main part number search form is also tied to the barcode value if your corporation uses barcodes. In reality, the part number search field is tied to four different fields making is very flexible - they are the main part number, the description, the barcode, and the reference number.

Add A Special Line Item - This is the form on the bottom left side. It is used to quickly add system or special line items such as: Labor, Freight, Supplies, Fees, Discounts, Shipping, Other, etc. All fields are required and should be fairly self-explanatory. As a special note, if you want to get a negative amount, you must use a negative quantity and a positive dollar amount. The math ends up the same, it just helps us keep all prices in the positive side of the equation.

Percentage Calculator - This is the bottom right form. This form is a simple calculator, meaning it doesn't effect anything. Use the form to enter numbers and run the different calculations. Use your tab key to help the numbers get recalculated. The "save %" button allows you to lock in a certain percentage. This saved value is tied to your login session (active time while you are logged in) and will hold that value until you are logged out and/or the session closes. The "populate form" button will take your calculations and put the values into the add a special line item form. This allows you to add/subtract certain percentages and then actually make those values get added as a cart line item. Once again, simple little calculator that may or may not be used.

Stock/Unit Search - This search form is for stock/units (serialized inventory or big ticket items). This search form may be hidden based on permissions. If visible, it will be at the top left part of the page. This search will take you right to the stock detail page where you can click on the "Invoice/Quote" link. That is where you start the stock/unit sales process.

Other helpful tips:

To use a barcode scanner, just make sure that the cursor is blinking in the part number field and the match part value is set to like. Scan the item, once it reads the barcode, it will submit the search form for you. It is that easy.

It is also possible to search for a recipe/build if you have that permission. A recipe is a list of pre-selected items that will be added as a group to the invoice (kits, package deals, options, and extras). The key for a recipe/build search is to switch the match part setting to recipe before submitting the form. Once on that page, look for the build prep link or button. That is where you set the actual quantities of the recipe/build before sending it to the cart.

Another quick tip about this page deals with the math values that are returned at the top of the page. The page is setup to show the current cart total as well as how many cents are needed to get the cart or ticket to the next whole dollar amount. This might seem funny, but some clients are using an ATM or cash type kiosk to help minimize the number of hands touching cash payments. Getting the ticket to the nearest whole dollar amount really helps things go smoother at the kiosk. A quick convenience fee may be applied (use the add a special line item form) and then the ticket will be at a whole dollar amount. Pretty slick.
